He was born in 1965 in Eskisehir. He completed his high school education at West Albany High School in Oregon, USA, on an AFS scholarship.

After graduating from Hacettepe University's Department of Economics, he finished his master's degree in Ankara University's Department of Theater. He moved to Istanbul, leaving the doctorate program he was attending and worked as a book editor in a publishing house, an ad writer in an advertising agency, and a screenwriter in the television industry. He has directed plays in theatres. He worked as an instructor of writing, editing, and acting in different universities and educational institutions.

The plays he wrote have been translated into fourteen languages. Productions or readings of his plays took place in the USA, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Bosnia, Belarus, Finland, Poland, Ukraine, and Bulgaria.

In 2010, he was a visiting professor at Cleveland State University as the first international "artist in residence" of the "Cleveland Foundation Creative Fusion" program.

Dissertations of his plays have been written in various universities. He has been focusing on teaching in recent years and lives in Istanbul.
